You can stop saying “No way!”, because, yes way,  you can do this.  You can even time me if you like.

Ready?  Go!

  1. Sit down.
  2. Add a few drops of  lavender essential oil on to a cotton ball and sit it near you.
  3. Close your eyes.
  4. Inhale a slow, deep breath.
  5. Exhale slowly counting to 5.
  6. Done!

How did I do?  Repeat your 10 seconds of relaxation as often as needed.

Do you have a sure-fire way to relax?  Share it with me in the comments below.

I get pretty sore from working at the computer too long, so I like to combine epsom salts and lavender essential oil for a soak in the tub.

There’s nothing like lavender. Such a beautiful scent.

I agree, and lavender is also great for so many other ailments like insect bites and burns. It truly is a great oil to keep on hand.

Lavender is wonderful stuff. My wife adds a small amount of it to the bath when she bathes with our baby daughter, and it really calms her down.

The best way I’ve found to relax is just to breath deeply from my belly and return myself to the present. (because whenever I’m tense, it’s a sign I’ve let my mind wonder off to worry about something).

Breathing is truly underrated. :-)

I just recently bought some lavender body oil. I use it on my face and arms (and hubby begs for a backrub) every night. It relaxes you in seconds and you sleep like a baby!

Sounds wonderful – I'll have to go out and get some. I never thought to use scents to relax – but of course. Duh

Using scents is a wonderful way to relax. Lavender essential oil is one of the best ways to accomplish that. Let me know if you would like to try it out.

If the hubby is on board with lavender, you're on the right track. Men are sometimes the hardest to bring over to lavender, but the results are great.

You should definitely give lavender a try. It's awesome in a bath, with bath salts, at the end of a stressful day.

I love lavender!! I need to find some lavender oil. It's hard to find where I am right now (Chile). I used to add it to a small ceramic pot with water that was lit with a small candle. Delightful. That and tea tree oil were the oils I used most.
